Need feedback on the Robust tool rest. I got one of the tool rest and the shaft is way too short and not really usable, any tips?
Send it back to Robust, and tell them you need a total height [top of rail to bottom of post of 8.75" ] That will be ideal for the G0766 or the G0800. The 8.75" length is considered a "custom" rest, but they are the same price as the long post rests, which have about 6.5" length which is too short. Brent English will work with you provided you have not buggered up the post, where he cannot resale the one you have. 8.75" is ideal on the total height of the rest.........trust me!

Sorry, I have sent the tool rest in and was told he would make a custom one for a few dollars. I boxed it up this past weekend and mailed it, he should have it 8/1. Note I did try to use it and it has a few scratches so i enclosed a few extra dollars in the package.
Key takeaway don't be like me and buy one in store or online, call them up and have one built.
