I got a call earlier today from a guy from Florida, who was visiting relatives, and he had seen some posts of mine about the G0800. He moved to Florida sometime in 2018, and could not move his lathes with him. He is a former owner of a Oneway 2436, the old style PM 4224, and got a Laguna Revo 2436 after he moved to Florida. He told me he wanted to come by while in the area and look at my G0800. He was never happy with the weight of the Laguna, and said it was way lighter than they advertised [I have no way of verifying that], and sold it. He looked the G0800 over, and talked with me about it. I offered to chuck up a piece of wood and let him take it for a spin, but he didn't have time for that and was leaving tomorrow heading back to Florida. [continued on next post]
part 2 -His impressions were very favorable. He did move the tailstock and banjo around, and we talked about the electronics inverter/motor. He is considering the G0800 now, and is an experienced turner. He liked the weight, the swing away tailstock, the build of the heavy duty spindle with 3 bearings all bigger than a baseball, and the bed extension on mine. He said he wants something this time that is heavy duty.......who knows, maybe we will see his name here on the GGMG as a member in coming weeks?!
When is Grizzly going to start cutting you a check? I got my second lathe based on your comments but the first one was a Grizzly as well. I bet you have persuaded many more to get Grizzly lathes. On that note I do see Grizzly start to hand out nice tools to you-tubers now.
I wish I had $100 for every person who has told me I helped them make a decision to go with a Grizzly lathe. I’d have enough to buy another new G0800! Grizzly has never even acknowledged anything I’ve ever posted....but I know that they have read them!
I should have said it better and more accurately.....many have talked with me, and made their decisions to purchase a Grizzly lathe. I have only given my personal experiences and accurate information on what I know. I did not mean in any way to infer that I had talked anyone into purchasing any make of lathe.
