I noticed that the G0838 lathe (16 x 24") has an accessory bed extension for around $130. I'm wondering if that could fit or be made to fit other lathes, like the G0766? The price seems good. I'm a bit wary though of the amount of casting hanging out (versus the vertical dimension of the bed) though and personally might consider putting a leg under it. If any GGMG people have a G0838, it would be kind of them to make a sketch of the bolt pattern and post it here. Also, it would be important to know the dimensions of the ways or top (thickness of way, slot width and depth and overall width. I realize that the end of the G0766 bed has not been drilled for an extension, but that could be fairly easy to do.
Have you checked to see of the bed dimensions are the same gap in the ways, and the same width on the ways?
Hi Roger, I don't have any of the dimensions of the G0838. So I have no way of knowing if the gap in the ways is the same. I'm hoping the someone with a G0838 can comment.
our wood turning club has one and I own a G0766 our next meeting is the 14th of this month I will try and get the dimensions and take a few picture of it unless some else post it first
