Whew! I’m tired!

I’ve been totally rearranging the shop/studio, moving heavy machinery around, including my G0766 lathe, tablesaw, bandsaw, drill press, etc, in anticipation of the February arrival of my new G0800 24x48 Black Grizzly Monster! Had to run a new 240v circuit from the panel for my 0766, because the former space will be occupied by my G0800. Had to take out my radial arm saw, and put it in the back building along with some bench top grinders/sanders, and had to eliminate some scrap lumber to make room back there!

Been at it for about 3 days now, and still have some more to do before the new beast arrives, so I will be glad when all this heavy work is finished and I get some final shop organizing completed. Did I mention that I’m tired?

Very exciting, Roger! Sounds like you've had a busy three days. From everything I hear, the G0800 is quite a nice piece of machinery. Haven't seen one in person yet, so the next occasion I have to be down your way, perhaps I can stop in for a Creeker visit and kick the tires!

With those two monster lathes in your studio, there won't be much you can't tackle. In fact, I predict you'll soon have two big projects going at once.

David, you’d be most welcome to kick the tires on the G0800, and you are correct....one reason for getting the second large lathe is so I can have two projects going at the same time. Due to space constraints, my Delta midi might have to find a new home.....not sure yet, though.

Roger, I'm looking forward to your review of the G0800 and comparison it to the G0766.

Brice, once I get the G0800 in and set up, I am looking forward to doing a couple of projects on it. I would like to do a youtube video review, but don't have a channel. Don't know all about posting videos there, but perhaps something might materialize, but I will certainly need someone with more skills than I possess to do the video, editing and posting thing. I have a couple of tech savy sons who work in the tech field with one of our local universities, so if one of them has the time, perhaps it might happen. If not, I'll take some good pics and review here on SMC. I will speak to the 0766 and compare it to the G0800. My guess is that it will be heavier, better ergonomics, but not sure it will be a large step up in performance. That statement is based on my experiences with the 3520b, which in my opinion does not perform any better than the G0766, and the G0800 is made by the same company as the 3520b. Roger, I believe that as long as you have a Youtube ID and log-in that you can post a video. Various people that I know have posted one or two videos and I don't believe that they had a channel. Regarding video editing, you are right that it requires a fair amount of effort. I have put together a few simple videos for my own use and used the free Microsoft Movie Maker software that cam with my last computer. If you involve your sons, it could become a great family event.
