Just for those who might wonder about the quality of the G0766 and G0800, I posted a burl piece that began well over 200 lbs. which I turned down on my G0800, and then did the hollowing on my G0766 because I did not have a correct size baseplate for my Monster Hollowing rig to fit the G0800. This thing was gnarly, heavy, and required torque and power at low speeds to get roughed out! Both lathes handled this very well!
very nice Pat
Can't wait till I grow up and can turn a burl like that.
Patrick and Mark....do you both turn on the G0766?
No, I have it's little brother, the 733. the 766 was not available until about 3-4 months after I got the "gotta have it" bug ;-) Pat
Yes, I have the G0766, thanks to you Roger and your reviews. I drove to Springfield from Kansas City to pick it up and have not regretted it. I had a grizzly bench top model (sold now) to start out and liked it as well but it did not have the power or size to do much other than pens or a small box. I even had to add a subpanel and ran wiring for the whole shop now just to support this lathe, so my cost to get this lathe was a lot but it's done now and I have a lathe and power that I hope that will outlast me. Before the subpanel I ran one extension cord from the outlet for the garage door and popped breakers daily. Now 220V bandsaw (grizzly) had to convert to 220 after subpanel install 220V lathe (grizzly) Wish list for 2019 --- SawStop table saw (220V) Festool domino --- maybe in 2020
Fantastic...nice to see these lathes being put to work!
