GGMG- Has it outlived the need for it?

I’ve been pondering for the last several months if there is much purpose in having the GGMG remain active. Less & less posts, likely due to the fact that Grizzly seems to have gotten the adjustments to the G0766 completed, and now the banjo issues, like the 25mm hole have been changed to 1”, the leg castings were shortened from what Brice reports.

Of course there are other models, and seems hardly no one posts about those here much. I just wonder if the GGMG is still considered a valuable resource for Grizzly lathe owners, and for those considering a Grizzly lathe purchase? Does it need to still be here? [continued]

On some other forums, Grizzly lathes get treated like the illigitamate child of the turning world. They are good machines, and great values! The G0800 is as good as anything on the market, from my experience. If it is supported for many years to come with parts and technical help from Grizzly, if they are needed, then they truly have a lathe in the same class as the Powermatic 4224b, but with some more advanced features, like the headstock cone.

If you think the GGMG has outlived it usefulness, please express that, or if you wish for it to remain, please express that too. I might be open to someone else taking over the admin of the group...

I find myself checking an a regular basis. All of the tips, etc have been appreciated. Modified my 733 for the one inch tool-rest post, added a remote speed control/start stop switch, resized to spindle boss. All great info.

Thanks Roger, for keeping it going

Patrick, I'd be interested in hearing how you went about adding the remote speed control/start stop switch to your G0733. From time to time, I've thought about trying this on my G0733 and G0766 but lay down til the feeling passed. E.g., did you relocate the headstock pot and switches to the remote box, or wire up a second set in series for the remote?

The headstock circuitry on the G0733 and G0766 appears to be the same, or nearly so, with the exception of the forward/neutral/reverse switch.
