I see that Stephen Ogle recently received a G0766 and posted a couple of videos. He seems to really like it. He must not be following our sub-group because he initially thought that the banjo was still drilled for 25mm and he wasn't aware of how easy it is to drill it out. He was momentarily contemplating reducing the diameter of his tool rests or buying/making new ones.

So far, Stephen has been saying very favorable things about his new toy.

Rich McNatt has one as well and has said good things about it too.

Somebody needs to tell him about the GGMG....there is so much he could learn about his machine if he read the threads here!

I sent Stephen and Rich an email hope they both join.

I watched both his videos with his G0766. Man, that fractal burning on the maple bowl looked scary with him holding the probes!

Roger, I watched it too. I presume that he was using automobile ignition wire. But I've been "bit" from those in the past.

BTW, I also sent him an email earlier today suggesting that he join SMC and GGMG. I mentioned that he may want to know about how to replace the potentiometer. Although I don't have definitive proof, someone in the main Turning thread mentioned that Powermatic does NOT use a wire-wound potentiometer. So, when I run through my next two spare pots, I'll switch over to a conductive polymer type of pot or something else.

Brice, if you find a good polymer pot for the 0766, I hope you will post a pic, part number, and where it can be purchased. That would be a great service to members of the GGMG. Also, a couple pics of the hookup in the headstock...if possible.

Sure Roger, when I get to the point of needing to replace the potentiometer, I'll share info on the pot and will also take pictures for the archives.
