RPM readout not working

I just replaced the bearings in my G0766. Now my readout shows all zeros no matter what speed the spindle is doing.

I just sent an email to Grizzly service, but won't hear back before Monday. Any ideas as to what happened and how I can fix it?

You might not have the sensor correctly positioned. The rpm sensor is held in place with a nut, and the gap between the sensor and the magnets should be about the same as the thickness of a normal business card. You also may have one of the magnets out of place or in backwards. Could it be one of the magnets is missing due to falling out when you had the spindle out of the headstock?

Harold here is a link with some help about the magnets on the spindle rpm: https://sawmillcreek.org/group.php?d...830&do=discuss

I think the gap between the pick up and the magnets is .053 inchs there was a post a couple years ago that covered that measurement and the issue with the magnets being polarity sensitive. I had the same issue when I changed out bearings , I had two reversed so it read 1/2 rpms of running speed.

Roger, thanks for the link, I'll check for the magnets today.

I just had to adjust the sensor; it must have moved when I installed the bearings.

    Thanks for the replies.
