Update! Was told today that the frugal pumps might be going out next week after the holiday so fingers definitely crossed. It's been a wait. I've got my chucks ready except for needing the bearings to complete.
I don't suppose anyone is using the frugal set up with an sk114 axminster chuck? I made some vacuum chucks already and I'm worried it's going to be a tight fit. 5/8" won't go through the center of the chuck with the faceplate attached. Axminster faceplates are just a ring that get held in the jaws with a dovetail for those that don't know. Is anyone using a system where the vacuum goes through the spindle without a tube? I was experimenting with a 3/8" aluminum rod and that's a snug fit through the spindle.
Up and running frugal vacuum system! With a lesson thrown in as well. Remember boys and girls..... when you just can't wait to see how it works no matter how much the little guy on your shoulder says go ahead..... stick your hand in front of it...... Don't do it! First thought was OUCH! then I was wow I hope I can reach the bleeder valve! And this was without the bearing sealed in, just held in with the two screws. (lathe not running... I'm stupid but not that stupid)
