Reputation Changing?

Seems to me, that the more owners of the upper end models of the Grizzly lathes have interacted on the various forums, and given their experiences with their units, that negative comments are fewer and farther between. On The AAW forums, this one, and a couple others, the G0766, G0733 especially seem to touted as both a value and reliable option for those looking for a large lathe.

I think far too many owners have testified to their good experience now, that those who were prone to trash talk Grizz offerings, have basically been pushed into silence, especially those who did not own one, but simply repeated the hearsay from others. I have always said, “if you want to know the truth, then ask a genuine owner!” I think perceptions and reputations are changing for the better!

I bought my G0800 the first year it came out. I was recently offered more for it than I paid. It was a cash offer and he had not even seen it run. I turned him down he said decide how much I wanted for it and call him. I would say that indicates a positive image.

Ted, I would be hard pressed to sell my G0800. I don’t think I would take $5K for it, because getting anything near the quality/features would be $8K + !

I agree I thought about selling it and buying a GO766 and pocket the differance but I dicided to keep my G0800 it's what I wanted when I bought it and still exceeds my needs. I do wish it had remote speed and off & on capability. but it's a keeper my son was glad I decided to keep it

I have used many different lathes and my G0766 is on par or better than every lathe I have used. The only thing I wish it had was a better spindle lock, I don't like the dam pin. This lathe has been running strong for many years with zero issues and I user it weekly if not daily.

Mark, that pin is a simple, yet effecive spindle lock, which if engineered to an internal system would have raised the price by a significant amount. While the minor things like a spindle lock are not state of the art, the G0766 does all the major things well, and has advanced inverter/motor combo, which is exactly where I want the emphasis to be! The priorities are correct in it’s build, IMO!
