I am curious if anyone has made a tilt away tail stock base for your G0766. Would you be willing to share your creation for us with pictures ?

I have not Leonard, but do believe one could be fabricated using large fence gate hinges, if mounted at the correct angle, and holes drilled accordingly. Along with the G0766, I also have the g0800 which comes with the swing away.

So far, I've been able to move my tailstock far enough down the lathe that I didn't feel the need to remove it. I would rather build a rolling cart that could roll up to the end of the lathe and allow me to slide the tailstock onto a bed extension. Then roll the cart out of the way. Drilling holes in my lathe and attempting to get hinges to hold that heavy tailstock is going to be more risk than reward.

I enjoy making tools and fixtures, so I had contemplated making a tilt-a-way or swing-a-way. Also, I have no limitations with milling or welding. But I think that I've only taken off my tailstock one or two times. So, it's value to me would be limited. But it would still be kind of fun to build. Hmmm...
