Seems most everyone is either busy or not much too talk about with Grizzly lathes. I did notice they had the G0800 at a really good price and in stock when they sent me a sales flyer. It would be a great time for someone to acquire one if they should desire. There was also a 10% coupon as well.

I've really been satisfied with my G0766. I've had it almost a year now without any problems. I know the G0800 weighs another couple hundred pounds and has an extra 2" of swing but is it really worth twice the price of the G0766? Roger I believe you have both of them. Is the extra $2,000 in cost worth it?

As good as the G0766 is [I have it, and am definitely a fan!] The G0800 is on a higher level in build, weight distribution and the overall size of the castings. If one doesn't do many larger/heavier pieces, then it might not be worth it, but for big heavy wood, the G0800 will hang with the best of the offerings from Oneway, Powermatic & Robust..........in my opinion. Most comparable to the PM 4224b as to size and build.

About the biggest I turn is 12" bowl blanks. A green 12" bowl blank can easily weigh 40-50 lbs. That's about all I want to wrestle with while I try threading the faceplate onto the spindle. The lathe spins it without any problems. So far, the G0766 has more capabilities than I do. That G0800 is a beautiful lathe but I was just wondering if it was worth the added cost.
