Oh, I should post my bio too...

Currently on active duty...since 1986...I started my career as a Corpsman with the Marines (tours at both Camp Pendleton and Camp LeJeune), did a stint with the Armed Forces Medical Examiners, then became a Submarine Independent Duty Corpsman. Did 16 years on boats before being selected for HMCM, then conversion to CMDCM. Currently on my second command tour (previous was aboard USS CONSTITUTION) as the Command Master Chief for Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron TWO in Portsmouth, VA. Currently with one of my forward deployed squadrons in Iraq.

    Be well,

    Doc

HHHMM I started out as a bubblehead , was a TM , went to New London/Groton for Sub School .. Doing "OK" in school , but went to the escape tank with the Steinke hood and blew my ears out bad , after two weeks of painful healing , went back blew 'em out again .. If the diver hadnot snatched me to the side about 80' up the tower I'd have been a bonafide bubblehead , first time in the pressure chamber I did great , after that it was all bad .. Even had orders in hand to L. Mendel Rivers SSN686 in Charleston ..
Stayed on first ship for 14 months and begged to convert GMG , which was what I wanted to start with , I think they let me go to get rid of me , which was fine , I didnt like them either ..

If they hadnot wanted to jack me around on my last orders I would have stayed on .. Gave me the ole "take these and we'll give you nine" , My reply was "gimme this and nine" .. I'd probly still be there if they'd let me stay on this long ..

Just got back to the states the other day and am already gone again. Currently in Great Lakes. We are sponsoring a recruit company and they form up tomorrow. So we're here for their commissioning ceremony and to present them with our command flag to carry while here. I love coming back to RTC - it reminds me of what our true priorities as Chiefs are - Making Sailors out of civilians (and running the Navy, of course!).

    Be well,

    Doc
