Pivot bolt on motor bracket g0766

I change speed ranges every now and then and today when I did it I noticed that there was some wiggle in the bracket (#8 on the parts list) that the motor is mounted to.

I've never noticed this before so I'm wondering if the bolt (#4 on parts list) it pivots on has worked loose a little or it's always been that way.

After tightening it makes it harder to lift the motor so I'm guessing it has always been loose?

Is that pivot bolt (#4) supposed to be loosened and tightened every time you change the belt on the pullies?

Just to clarify I'm not talking about the lever (#6) in the front that you loosen to raise the motor, I'm talking about #4 ( CAP SCREW M10-1.5 X 30) in the back under the motor that the bracket pivots on.

Do other people have what I would call quite a bit of wobble in the bracket at that pivot bolt when (#6) lever is loose?, almost like the hole has become wallered out. (technical term there)

    Thanks

AFAIK, I don't have wiggle in that bolt. But, when I first got my G0766, most of the bolts holding the motor were loose. So, I think that they may have under-torqued the bolts and/or the vibration from the sea shipment. loosened them.

Not that long ago when I noticed a vibration only at a certain rpm I went and checked every bolt including the ones holding the legs on and didn't find any loose.

I guess when I think about it every time you lift the motor bracket it might be putting a little torque on that bolt (#4) in the right direction to loosen it.

Hope it didn't wear the hole bigger in the motor bracket. I checked and they want $60 dollars for it.

If you find some time could you check yours? Maybe they're all alike and I'm worrying about nothing.

This was with the front lever loose as if going to raise the motor and the back of the bracket had movement in relation to that #4 bolt. As if the hole was too big for the bolt. That's why I was wondering if I was supposed to loosen and re-tighten that bolt to move the motor. Or maybe a bushing missing but I didn't notice one on the parts diagram.

Sam, when I got my G0766, the first thing I did when uncrating and assembling was to go thru the entire machine and tighten every nut/bolt/screw on the thing, then level the bed ways, to exact level. I’ve never had any come loose after that. I think Brice is correct about vibrations on a container ship with wave action, propellar, bilge pumps, etc. causing a lot more vibration than most people realize….very substantial vibrations which can work things loose.

Roger, could you check to see if your motor plate has some wobble around the #4 bolt when the #6 belt tension lock lever is loose as if you were going to change the belt?
