GGMG MUST be handed to new moderator

If I recall correctly, about 2010 I started the Grizzly Green Monster Group as a place where Grizzly lathe owners could support one another, and get reliable info from owners, instead of false info some posted because they heard something, or had a bad experience with a Grizzly product, and it colored their world negatively.

After these 13 years, my time is up for keeping up with this corner of SMC. I’d like to hand it off to someone else’s leadership, as I really am focusing my energies on other things than turning at this time. In the future, I will return to spinning wood on the lathe, but for the next couple years, I must focus on other things.

I believe someone else can take this group to new heights, and make it better than it is now….so, someone contact me soon because, I will be stepping down soon. I’ll talk to Keith to see how this should be handled, hopefully in conjunction with one of you long time members. 325 members…..not bad, eh?

Can you go into detail on what is involved in the day to day management of the group?

Basically, just check in daily if possible and answer questions, and if things really get slow, introduce a topic related to what our group is interested in. If someone gets out of hand, delete their post …i’ve only had to do it once in 13 years.

Is there going to be a garage sale in your future?

No Sam…I’m not leaving woodworking or turning. I am taking a year or two to go to welding school, and hopefully relocate as soon as we find the right house/property. I very much need a larger shop, and plan to resume selling my work when that happens, after getting settled in. I will say this, when my time comes, someone will have some great acquisitions available!

    Hey Roger,

I don't remember what I googled but in the results were some of your first posts about the g0766 before you purchased one. I think it was 2014 maybe? It was on the main site I believe. I thought that was pretty neat.

Yep…there were lots of lengthy discussions online. You wouldn’t believe how many phone calls, private messages and such I’ve had over the years about Grizzly lathes. Grizzly really upped their game with the G0733 and the G0766, and especially the G0800. What I posted as a review, and as factual comparrisons to more popular units from other manufacturers has proven to be valid, and for a great many turners, they have been served well by their Grizzly lathes.
