I like having a GGM Group. It is reassuring that if I develop a problem with my G0766 that I have a place to go to ask other owners for advice. Everything from modifying the programming of the invertor to changing the bearings.

I thank Roger for starting this group and for maintaining it.

The "traffic" has been low, but I attribute that to a lack of problems. But it is so reassuring to have a resource like this. Many thanks to Roger for maintaining this forum.

I read a lot when I was considering a new lathe. I got a lot of good information from this forum that helped me decide to go with the G0766. My wife says I drive her crazy with my research when buying something expensive. So far, I haven't run into anything I wanted to do on the G0766 that it couldn't handle with ease. And I've turned some big pieces of wood. It even does ornaments and finials pretty well too. I think I made a good decision.

Thanks for all the info and advise.

Thank you guys for the kind remarks. Numerous times I've thought about just ending the GGMG, as there seemed to be little interest, but as we all know, it is a great resource to have related to our machines. We've got some great members in this group. Thanks for your participation...it would not be near what it is without you guys! BTW, we are still increasing in membership, so.....

I too will say thanks Roger! I am perfectly satisfied with my G0766, although there were issues at the beginning. Now five years in, and still working like a charm. I'm building a second shop, in the TX Hill Country (where the wife and I will be splitting our time being with her mother), and am keeping my eyes peeled for another Grizzly lathe! I figure why not 'go with what you know'!

Thanks Walter. Hope you have great success with your next unit. Are you going with another G0766?

Roger, I'm not sure what Grizzly I'll go with. I know you've written in the past about possible new models coming out, and I'm curious to see/know what those might be. It'll be a little while -- several months -- before I'm fully up and running in my secondary shop. I have my 'original' lathe, a Jet 1236 that was given to me by one of my best friends and which got me into this addiction, ready to move into the new shop as a starter. I'll also need a bandsaw and a compressor amongst other things. Have a drill press ready also. I think I'll have it fully close in, insulated and power to the shop by Christmas, after which I'll be able to spend some time in there!

I would pay attention to when the new yearly catalog comes out. It is possible it might have a new model or two. Of course, with the covid situation, and the trade issues the US is having with China, there might be supply issues, and that could possibly be the reason why some models were discontinued. Be sure to post some pics of your new shop when its finished.
