Changing units from MM to Inches

Hi any Axiom or RichAuto user,

How does one change the RichAuto controller from metric Mm to inches?
I know its possible to scale the unit using the Pulse settings, but that's not really a thorough way of going about it.
Currently the Pulse settings are X:2560 Y:2560 Z:5120 which calibrates controller units to actual distance in MM perfectly.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Ben,
RichAuto does not offer support to convert the controller from mm to inches. Its hardwired so to speak in the software and cannot be changed. The pulse settings control the accuracy of the machine as a whole and are calibrated for these specific stepper motors. Changing those pulses to inches would loose accuracy, if it could be done. However the only way I would for-see to do this would be to set them for inch equivalent, 25.4 times larger than they are now, unfortunately the result would be the same and the controller would still read in mm.

    Hi Chad,
Thanks for the feedback, I might still adjust it later on after I get a lot more familiar with the machine.
I personally prefer inches on the controller, because it relates to the material thickness I use, and its better for manual milling via the controller buttons.

    1) I would caution anyone from messing around with the pulse rates of your controller, unless you really know what you're doing. You can easily damage the machine this way.
    2) Make sure to backup your controller settings before doing this, you can backup your settings on the USB stick prior to changing any machine settings, its easy and fast.
    3) Make sure to carefully re-calibrate your machine, and also set the new machine table size, to keep the gantry and spindle from slamming into the sides!
    4) Be methodical and take notes as you go, so you can change the settings back if you need to.

Any question contact Axiom (Chad) directly or post here for other owners (like me) to reply.
