    Congratulations on giving up cigarettes, the most addictive drug.

    If you are free to travel, Jim Tolpin runs an excellent school in Port Townsend, WA. It's not cheap, but if might keep you out of the weeds as you start out.

    I did much the same in a Boston setting, and kept a list of things I actively used over the two week course.

    That steered me toward hand tools and buying S2S (skip planed) lumber from my suppliers. No tableware, jointer or planer required and my shop is quiet.
