Definitely not cherry. I'm not familiar with that wood at all, but very familiar with cherry and that's not even close.

The Shapton Pro 1000 is the best 1000 grit stone I have used. Better than a Sigma. In fact, I bought an extra one for future use.
I think Harbor Freight prompts a negative emotional reaction in a good part of our community. The same can be said for the reaction of some to Festool.
