    Time for some levity

With all of the negativity and political stuff going on with the Covid-19 virus it is time to look at the humorous side of things. Feel free to add more, but keep it clean or it will be deleted.

Tool Covers (Tool Companies please read)

    Thread Starter: james bell

I prefer to purchase small power tools with cases and whenever I purchase a large tool I also buy a cover. Like most hobbyists, my shop is not humidity controlled, nor heated/cooled, so my tools need protection. I typically buy HTC covers, but for my drill press I got an outdoor single golf bag...

https://www.harveywoodworking.com/collections/table-saws?sort_by=price-ascending Looks like they just released some new models including what interests me most a $1595 2hp model with 31 1/2" deep table. Am i missing a saw or is that somewhat a class of its own?

This has been nearly finished for quite a while. I had a misadventure with the alignment of one of the doors. I needed a long cooling-off period after my first couple of attempts failed to fix the problem. I used the plan for the bottom unit of the Country Hutch by Martin Milkovits in Fine...

Putting together the Woodland Mills HM-130 Mill and Woodlander Trailer

    Thread Starter: John TenEyck

I placed a phone order with Woodland Mills this past Monday and on Tuesday I picked up my HM-130 mill and trailer crates from the Buffalo, NY distribution center. Picking it up saved me the shipping charges and since it's only 20 miles from my house it was an easy choice. The only way to pick it...

From the first time I saw pictures of Stuart Mortimers signature twist work, I knew I wanted to try one myself, but I feared it was too difficult and time consuming. Stuarts book, Techniques of Spiral Work- A Practical Guide to the Craft of Making Twists by Hand, and an article in the May 2006 issue of Woodturning were the sources of inspiration and also great learning tools. It was when Mark Hubl showed his first spiral piece that I finally decided I would give it a try. There are many ways this work can be done, but here is the way I make twisted finials. As with any woodturning project, if something doesn't feel right to you, don't do it!!

Do you have woodworking knowledge you're just dying to share?
Want to be an author at Sawmill Creek?

Now you have a new area to publish articles!

If you want to publish an article, you can join our authors group, which gives you access to a forum which is open only to would-be authors at SawmillCreek. This is a staging area for new articles, where you can post a new article, and we'll review for publication. Once you're ready to publish it, we'll promote it on the front page of SawmillCreek!

    The process is simple:

    1. Join the Authors group by visiting this page.
    2. Once you have access, visit the Authors forum.
    3. Start your article by creating a new thread in that forum.

    TIPS

If your article is too long for a single post, don't fret ! Spread your article over multiple posts, and we'll merge them together into a single post when the article is ready to be published.

Try posting pictures inline for visual interest.

Choose a catchy, yet descriptive title!

    Writer's Block?

We're looking for tool reviews, woodworking tips, woodturning techniques, jigs and fixtures, finished projects step-by-step, finishing techniques, social woodworking experiences, and even good compilations of our existing thread topics.

    Good luck and Happy writing!
