    I had occasion to look at some Festool products on a recent trip. Nice stuff. I knew they were expensive but I had no idea :eek:. I'm no stranger to paying for quality, and I generally advocate for that approach. That said, is their stuff worth the dough or is it just for cork sniffers?

    I was able to purchase 2 used Holtey Planes (earlier 98 series smoothers, not low angle) for an incredibly low price. The owner died.     I just don't understand those folk in California that insist on building houses in a pine forest and wonder why their house gets burnt up?? If I lived in a fire zone like that I would clear all the trees around my house for 200-300 feet or more and no brush within 50 feet. Metal roofing or some...
