    Time for some levity

With all of the negativity and political stuff going on with the Covid-19 virus it is time to look at the humorous side of things. Feel free to add more, but keep it clean or it will be deleted.

Future infrastructure for residential electric service?

    Thread Starter: Stephen Tashiro

The recent thread on electric vehicles brings up questions about future infrastructure for residential electric service ( power lines, transformers, etc.) Will a future home need 500 AMP service? Can contemporary power poles safely hold the power lines and transformers that can supply that much...

Talk me out of building an eight foot bench please.

    Thread Starter: Scott Winners

I think I can make it work in my space. I am going to leave enough overhang past the legs to maybe install a tail vise on the distaff end in the future, or whack a little length off and not have a tail vise. My current bench coming out of the old more cramped shop space is all Doug Fir, 24x48...

Move from 15" to Dewalt 13" planer?

    Thread Starter: Geoff Crimmins

Several years ago I was looking for a planer with a helical head for my hobby woodshop. I ended up with a 15" Grizzly because I found a good deal on a used one. It's a nice planer, but it's taking up a lot of space in my small garage for the amount that I use it. I've been thinking of replacing it...

Adding a minimax c26 genius combo (mini euro combo machine) to a shop full of tools

Hi everyone, I have come across an opportunity to add the minimax C26 genius to my shop from only $500, but already have a shop filled with individual tools. I spend most of my time in the woodshop slowly making mediumly sized pieces of furniture for myself, friends and family members. ...

I am trying to sell a pickup for my 91 year old BIL, who is sick. I put the ad on CL at midnight last night, and did not even have the pics up until 11 tonight, but still got a bunch of replies. Two of them stated they would buy it at listed price ($30K) but could not come to see it for...

From the first time I saw pictures of Stuart Mortimers signature twist work, I knew I wanted to try one myself, but I feared it was too difficult and time consuming. Stuarts book, Techniques of Spiral Work- A Practical Guide to the Craft of Making Twists by Hand, and an article in the May 2006 issue of Woodturning were the sources of inspiration and also great learning tools. It was when Mark Hubl showed his first spiral piece that I finally decided I would give it a try. There are many ways this work can be done, but here is the way I make twisted finials. As with any woodturning project, if something doesn't feel right to you, don't do it!!

How long does it take you to build these doors (paint grade)?

My best guess for my shop is 2 6/8 hour days. They look simple enough I would use my tablesaw for the jointery .
