I want to learn to do veneer and inlay work. Can anyone suggest a good book that would get me started. I am not a novice woodworker, but have never tried this aspect, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks Russ

While not a book - worth a trip to Philly.

Your other option would be a course through your local comminuity college. I just finished a class last semester.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out. As far as college... around here those kind of courses have a waiting list. However that makes me think of woodcraft. Thanks for the idea. Russ

It's a great tutorial on making a compass rose inlay using veneer. Very well written, and easy to follow. It's what I used when I made my first hand-cut inlay.

I just took a course in Orlando given by David Marks on Router inlay. He also covered how to do marquetry using a scroll saw. I really got a lot out of it. The class was small and you could ask questions at any time which was very helpful. He also gives classes at his facility in California. Check them out on his website which I think is davidmarks.com. If that doesn't get you to his website just google David Marks and he will come up. :)

Thanks for the plug, Guy. I also have those tutorials on my web site (http://www.mikes-woodwork.com/Tutorials.htm), plus a few more. And I expect to add more in the coming months.
