Well... I didn't tell my wife about the TS/Shaper purchase until your brother showed up. I kind of sprung it on her when she saw me and your brother wheeling the shaper into my basement. I tried telling her "surprise, Merry Christmas" but she didn't say anything. I think she was just overwhelmed at how thoughtful of a gift I got for her:D

I'm thinking my first project needs to be a proper outfeed table for the TS. I saw a thread about using a hydraulic lift with some plywood attached to the top as a outfeed/utility table. I might take my Christmas cash and head down to HF tomorrow to look into that option.

Matt Meiser

Wow, I can't believe this list either! My wife and I decided to forgo presents for each other this year (although at the last minute I snuck a gift card to the spa under the tree for her), since our gift to each other is to travel to see family in Colorado over the holidays. We've also agree to spring for a new large screen HD display (our 2nd) during after holiday sales.

I did buy myself one of the Jet JFM-5 floor mortisers during the big discount, and bought Russ Massery's spare Mortise Pal as well - so I'm ready to start on some A&C furniture I'm planning as soon as I'm back home!

Merry Christmas, all!

Santa's been very good this year!

One shiny new Veritas Premium Block Plane.
One nice Mike Wenzloff hand made small tenon saw.
Couldn't make my mind up between a Mike Wenzloff dovetail saw and the new Veritas docetail saw - so I kept both and will do some comparisons in service in due course.
And finally a new on the European market Festool T12 -3 NiMH cordless drill with centrotec bits and pieces.
I'll have to get off the couch and make some sawdust soon!

I made out like a bandit this year:

- French Veneer Saw from ToolsForWorkingWood
- "Tilt Box" for measuring angles relative to a reference surface.
- Festool Systainer for the 6" abrasives which don't currently have a home
- Festool Sortainer for some of the random "stuff" that doesn't currently have a home.

Dan Karachio
12-26-2008, 12:30 PM
I was "allowed" to buy some Festool stuff that represented my Christmas presents and as always, from my sister in law received a gift certificated for $100 to Home Depot. I have no trouble dropping $100 at any store, but with gift certificates I find myself going back and forth. If only they carried good router bits. As it is, I will more than likely buy clamps.

My wife gave me a Keen Kutter wooden coffin plane that she found in an antique mall. We went back there today and I found a Stanley No. 80 scraper that someone had ground a bevel on the blade and tried to use it as a spokeshave. The shop wanted $24.00 so I jumped. Then they had 15% off anything over $20.00. My final cost including sales tax, $21.83!! :D

I'll post some pictures in the workshop forum. I've got dozens taken during the construction process. The outside may be done but I've still got lots to do on the inside. I'm still in the process of getting my tools moved and I am so tired of painting.

LOML and I decided that our gifts this year would be to "allow" each other to buy what we really wanted...haha. I cashed my gift in early on Black Friday and took advantage of the 10% Ebay/30% MS Live cashback and picked up a DW735 planer for just over $250 delivered. :D

Then I used a $100 gift card from work to pick out some more Xmas presents:
A Wixey Digital Height readout (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=11418&filter=wixley) for my new planer, and a 4 piece DC port/featherboard router accessory (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=21266&filter=4%20piece%20router) kit for my router table. Grand total: $99.98 (Free shipping was Rockler's Xmas gift to me)

Now Ive got to figure out how to spend the $150 in Menards gift cards that various family got for me! :D:D:D

I bought myself a magnifying glass with LED lights around the rim. I am sad to say i am very excited about a magnifying glass. I also bought an Incra mitre gauge for myself about a month ago on amazon that is just showing up at the post office.. My kid gave me a snow scraper. Life doesn't get much better.

Nelson Bradley
12-27-2008, 1:20 AM
My wife gave me permission to get this myself for christmas. 30% MS Cashback, 10% ebay coupon and $100 rebate from SC made it a nice deal.

Diann bought me a digital moisture meter.

Unfortunately all my wood was at 6% or lower, which is the bottom indicator on the bar graph.

So I moistened the end of a scrap with 8 drops of water, and watched as the moisture content started at 40% and slowly fell to 11% as the water travelled further into the wood.

Regards, Rod.

I got new shop apron and a magnetic task light for the bandsaw. And couple of Stanley/Bailey clamps.

I got a 14" Rikon Bandsaw, I'm very excited.

Bought the G0593 about three weeks ago but kept it under cover until xmas, which was very hard to do.It's sweet, don't know how I worked without it. I noticed in the 2009 catalog it's not listed. If I get time I'll post a pic.

Hey guys. I got these four posters from my buddy as a Christmas present. He thought they would look cool in frames in my shop, I totally agree. They look original, but may not be. No matter what, I think they are excellent and cannot wait to display them in my shop. Maybe someone knows a little more about them. They all say copyrighted 1952 by Chevrolet motor division, General Motors Corporation....Courtesy of your local Chevy dealer.
What do you think.

Got a Veritas® Wheel Marking Gauge, very nice, works beautifully, though rather small for my hands, but that is fine.
