Cracked Lens

I have a Universal M300 Laser. I noticed tonight that my lens 2.0 lens is cracked and I have no idea what would have caused this. Can anyone answer?

Vivian there are several things that may have caused this. I suggest that you post this in the Engravers forum for a better response.

As contamination builds up on the lens the laser energy passing through the lens heats up the contamination to the point that the lens cracks.

I am no expert.... I just listened at the ARA Training classes when they passed around the cracked lens. Training was given by Mike at Laser Bits about 8 or 9 years ago at Atlantic City.

Could be other causes too. Post it over at the engravers forum you will get more answers.
