I took 4 inch x 12 inch scraps of wood and with my CarveWright put Merry Christmas on one side and Bah Humbug on the back....

They were good sellers.... Simple and used scraps.....

We thought we'd solved the annual problem of Christmas shopping. We draw names at Thanksgiving, then each person only has to buy for one other. We set a dollar limit, so they can buy one big gift or several small. Only problem this year - the nasty record-setting snow and lack of road clearing, meant that the person who drew my name had to cancel the flight up at the last minute. So I sat and watched the rest of the family open gifts this morning.

The experience made me think. Because I had no anticipation for what I might get, I was much better able to contemplate the looks of excitement on the others' faces as they opened their gifts. It reminded me that it's the joy of giving, not receiving, that's most important.
