I received this message today.

-------------------------------------------------------

Sir,

I am a United States Marine serving in Iraq and I recently received one of
the handsome wood pens sent out to the Iraqi theatre of operations by the
freedom pens project. It has fostered a lot of compliments and questions
and I have referred them to your site and let them know that they can send
their questions and thanks directly back to you folks in the States.

Speaking of thanks, I would also like to express my gratitude for your
generosity and time in running this project in support of all the troops
out here. There is little doubt that the environment here is difficult,
dangerous, stressful and full of uncertainty. It makes all of us on duty
out here feel a little more confident to know that people (even total
strangers...!) are thinking about us and even giving up their own time,
resources and energy to share their support.

Many of the Marines I work with asked if I could find them a pen
too...(I originally recieved two. I gave one to a young Corporal in my shop
and kept the other one...) Would it be possible to have some pens sent out to
us here at the Squadron? If this is o.k. with you guys, you can send them
to the following address and I will hand them out to the Marines here in
western Iraq. The address here is:

C/O 1st Lt (NAME), USMC
MWCS 38, ALPHA COMPANY
UIC 41136
FPO AP 96426-1136

In closing, I must say that I, for one, am using the oak wood pen I
recieved to write some postcards and letters back home to friends and
family to let them know I am o.k. Not to mention it comes in handy for
the gobs of paperwork that can crop up during the course of the day...!
Thanks again for your good wishes and kindness, Lt Conlon.
