Merry Christmas Creekers!

I get somewhat sentimental this time of year and was thinking about an old rocking chair I used as a child years ago. It was a rocking chair built on a pedestal and used springs to help with the rocking motion. Has anyone seen plans or designs for something like this??

I'd like to try my hand at duplicating something similar.

Thanks, and have a Great Holiday Season!!

Tim

I remember seeing something like that somewhere. I just Googled around and found these links.

There are evidently a couple different kinds of hardware.
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=807&utm_source=shopzilla&utm_medium=se&utm_campaign=2008&cookietest=1 looks like it's meant to be built into a wooden frame.
http://www.swivel-chair-parts.com/154RockerSwiveLeg.html seems to be a complete swiveling lower frame.

This is a set of plans, but they cost money. http://www.skillspublish.com.au/David%20Bryant%20Plans%20Main%20Page.htm

You can searching for "Platform Rocker Spring" to find related things.

Thanks John! The plans you referenced look to be similar to what I had in mind. However, I think I'll limit the amount of turning needed, but the design will work.

Have a Great New Year!
