I thought that I would join in on the displaying of Christmas gifts.

These paper weights average 2 1/2" tall. They are made from a variety of woods. The pointed ovals are done by inserting a "glue-up" into a router-created "V" notch. The finish is Deft spray.

It is just not fair. Not fair I tell you. Malcolm you are in another league. Us mortals just can not keep up. Excellent work and the colors make for great eye candy. Please continue to amaze us all.

Great work and an inspiration.

Many years ago at a computer show there were some give away items with a similar shape, but they were cast plastic. They had a slot on one side to hold a sheet of paper up for a typist or holding a recipe for a cook.

Gee, now that all my Christmas gifts have been sent off, this may be a good time to try new challenges.

Things were so hectic with more than a foot of snow, we lived in sunny California until this summer, I forgot to take pictures. Maybe my son-in-law can take some when the gifts are in the hands of the kids.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Robert, the surface is lightly buffed with white diamond compound. They are not supper shinny as I didn't have the option of waiting for the lacquer to fully cure (the buffing was done after only one overnight of drying).

Quinn, I'm glad you liked the DVDs. I'm currently working on Volume three (more techniques) and I'm working on a DVD of "projects". These paperweights are fully video-documented for that DVD.

Merry Christmas

Amazing as always, Malcolm. Great materials are only great in the hands of one with a great eye for potential. You're an amazing man, sir, and I'm SO glad that you share this stuff with us.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Jim, that is another great idea variation I will put in my turning ideas folder. Here is a picture of one of plastic I keep at my desk for holding a piece of paper when I am doing data entry. A former co-worker gave it to me when I was admiring it. She called it a "paper shark".
