View Full Version : TEFC, I don't think so.

Recently, I had the opportunity to replace the bearings on my Taiwan made dust collector motor. As I disassembled the alleged TEFC motor I was surprised to see the motor end bell under the fan to have a big hole in it where the centrifugal switch is mounted. You could see right down into the motor and look at the windings!

On the outside, it looks like a typical industrial TEFC motor but under the fan you'll find that it's not so enclosed!! This makes me want to crack open the fan end of my TS motor and see if it has a big hole in it too.

You must have the PEFC motor, partially enclosed fan cooled. :)

I have a 3hp jet in the shop, bet its a fake too.

You get what you pay for, Kyle.
They don't have to (and obviously don't) adhere to the same standards as our motors (NEMA Standards) have to.
I've found that the off shore stuff is also sorely lacking in their supposed horse power ratings as well. China and Taiwan being the worst offenders. They'll steal and copy anything, but it looses much in the translation.
Their electrical quality sucks! :(
