Do any of you have any experiance with blue steel blades from japan woodworker? Rc66 seems like they would hold an edge better than LN or Hock blades (Rc62) unless they are prone to chipping. I dont know how to post links yet but here is part # for stanley 60 1/2, 18.138.35 They are Also cheeper than the Hock blades.

Jim, I just got one from Japan Woodworker yesterday, but haven't honed it or used it yet. I bought a Samurai ( IIRC ) brand japanese laminated iron from Woodcraft years ago and it is my favorite blade by far - it stays sharp a long time and seems to cut smoother than any other blade I have ( Stanley, Hock 0-1, Clifton, LV, Victory laminated, old tapered irons, homemade e-1, ) . I have high hopes for this one, though it will take me a couple of months to see how it works.
