Follow up question to my oak stair project. I have some 1" x 10"x 40" pieces that I'm using for the treads. A couple of these have some slight cracks going length wise on the back side and I'm concerned about cracking down the road. With this 10" width would you consider ripping them and gluing to prevent future problems? The cracks are small and don't go to the show side. Thanks Alan in Md.

I have scored the bottom to relieve cupping. Sawing and re gluing would relieve internal stress
