I made this hat a couple of weeks ago but just now got around to taking pictures. It is 16" maximum diameter and weighs 8 oz. There was a small piece that tore out of the crown when I turned it, that design opportunity resulted in four cutouts; a diamond, club, spade and heart. I call it "The Gambler"

I like the hat very much. If you hadn't mentioned it, I'd have thought the cut-outs on the crown were part of the plan all along.

Wow! Beautiful work Dennis! Great looking wood! I like your 'save' idea! This has to be quite the conversation piece!

Dennis,

Did you figure this out yourself or have help? I was at a Chris Ramsey demo but haven't had the nerve to try one yet.
Wonderful job!

That really turned out great...pun intended! Great character in the sweet gum for a hat, too.
