Greetings:

Funny thing happened this morning at church, a friend walked up and handed me a complete Stanley 45.

He bought it years ago in London and has had it on the shelf since. Never used. The cutters are in the original box and complete except for the #8 splitter.

The manual shows a print date of March 50. I'm assuming the tool and manual are the same vintage.

Best I can tell it is complete, except for the #8. I plan to clean it up and figure out how it works. Should be fun.

Best regards, Tom, in Houston, where it is a wintery 48 degrees.

Aside from eternal salvation there's a real good reason to go to church. Just paid $26.00 for a Ward Master with one cutter myself. Good for you.

I should go to church more often!
A friend (non woodworker) has a 45 that I have been drooling after for a couple of years. So far he won't part with it.

Congrats, it looks to be in wonderful condition.

Lee Valley sells reprints of many of the Stanley tools.
Reasonable price too.

Some hints: Start at the far end and gradually lengthen the cut. It will track better. Also, watch the grain direction.

Best wishes, Eric

I have a Wards 45 with all the cutters in their box and a manual. It was NOS but the box was destroyed by water. I paid $200 25 years ago.

Congradulations.
