scale rulers

i am looking for a ruler where 1/4 inch =1 inch for a plan i have.i thought they were called scale rulers but i am having no luck finding one.if someone knows the proper name please let me know or where to buy one.thanks and happy holidays.

Jim, you're looking for an architects scale. You can get them in a triangular shape with multiple scales and smaller flat rules with a couple of different scales. I have found them at my local office borgs (office depot, Staples). If that doesn't work you could look up technical reproduction services and supplies in your area as well as art supply dealers.

If you look up “Drafting Scales & Rulers” you will findArchitectural Scale rulers with fully divided graduations of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 3/32, 3/16, 3/8, 3/4 inches to the foot, and a scale divided in sixteenth and thirty second parts to the inch.

Michael is correct. Try the office supply stores first. They should have them near the art supplies. If not google Dataprint, they are a drafting supply company.

Scales are available at just about any office supply store and in many arts and crafts stores, too. They are most often "triangular" and contain several different scales including the 1/4" scale you need. I actually still have mine from high school! Made of wood, even. :) and also have a short one (about 4=5") that I picked up at some trade show as a give-away years ago. That one was really handy when I was working with the architect and builder during our addition project since it fit in a shirt pocket.
