I dusted off my Vega pro-36 copier to turn 4 large bedposts. Bed is for a 5 yr old Grandson. I made up 3 full size paper patterns, bottom , middle post and cannon ball top, leaving a 1&5/8" pin for connecting the 3 parts together. I use 3m spray glue to attach the paper pattern to 1/4" thick scrap veneer for the tracer to run on. I glued up 2" hard maple into roughly 6x6 blocks, trimming to 5" square for the bottom and 4& 5/8ths for the rest. Once I have all the parts made, I remove the copier off the lathe and remount the pieces to finish turn, sharpen details, and sand.

Very nice, I can't wait to see the finished project. I have wanted to make new bedroom furniture for myself but funds and time have hampered me.

really nice, but from my childhood, you shouldnt have used hard maple, that will be so hard for you grandson to carve his initials into.

Surprise. They live 2.5 hrs away so don't get to see them a lot.
