Here are some pictures of the outfeed Table and the Phil Thien Mini Separator I built for the shop. The separator works pretty good and will keep the Shop Vac Filter cleaner by catching the sawdust in the separator. I tried it and it works very well as I picked up the sawdust I dumped on the floor that was in the separator like I hoped it would be and the Shop Vac was cleaner. I didn't have it real clean so I think a little dust fell from the filter.

Gary - Nice work.
Have you got a shot of how the outfeed table fastens to the saw cabinet ? Looks like some sort of angled wood bracket from the first pic.
Thanks,
Lewis

The first section is about twelves inches wide and bolts to the steel bar from the saw. The two braces are just extra support. The larger section folds down when it is not needed.
Here is the outfeed table in down position.

Hey Gary,
Both projects look superb. I would recommend extending an oversize miter track slot (DADO) out to cover the length of the smaller section of the outfeed. This will ensure when using your miter gauge or sled (if you have one) can safely push the cut past the blade.

You seem to have a great knack for this!:)

Dewy I spend a lot of time thinking about it before I actually do it and I seach for ideas that appeal to me. That is where I got this idea from. I am going to extend the slots but I think I am going to order some from MCLS called Miter T-Track and T-Bar. I got a catalog from Penn Stae Industries and with it was the MCLS Catalog with these in it. I figured I would wait until after the Holidays to order anything.

Gary,
Do as you please with the slots but those DO NOT have to mate up with your TS slots, infact it might be better if they are a bit bigger. Nothing will ever ride in them. They are only there because the gauge or sled will run into the top if they are not cut into it.

It does sound like you put plenty of thought into this.... just trying to save you a buck or two (and possibly some serious alignment woes) around the holidays.:)

Thanks Dewey that does save me some money and I was thinking maybe they should line up but when you think about it really just to give some clearance to the sliding table and miter.

I haven't really built anything yet just putting the shop together and build stuff for that. I was looking at some old American Woodworker Mags. I have and they showed some nice French Cleat hung cabinets and tool racks. Looks like a good idea for the wall space I have laying around. Have to give that some thought.

I hear you Gary...my first few ww years were spent on storage and jigs more so than projects. I also have to make new every time the Navy moves me.

I subscribe to about every ww mag known to man so if you get stuck on something I may be able to help. I have 12 huge 3 ring binders with nothing but plans that I cut out of my mags and throw out the rest.
I used french cleats all throughout my shop so I know full well how they go together.

Take care

We have something in common! I was a U. S. Navy Engineman Second Class and only second class enlisted man to command his own River Patrol Boat with River Division 553 in Vietnam. I have a Sister that lives in Aurora, Co. and some nieces that live in the area also.

Let me know if you plan on visiting within the next year and we could meet if you want/ have time.

Gary,

You can find it cheaper here. http://www.ptreeusa.com/ttrack_list.htm

I have ordered a lot of items from them and their service is excellent.
