Saw benches are very handy, built mine about 8 years ago, spurred on by Kingshott. Never thought of using it as a wedge, though, thanks.

Just wondering if you had a chance to make the saw bench. I have made it to the shop exactly 3 times, to check that power was still on. Treacherous 150-foot walk on the ice...
