This is a follow up to the original post: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=94691

The blank had dried really weird compared to normal wood (non-burl) and I was hoping that I left enough wood to finish the bowl! Luck was with me!

The bowl is 11 3/8” diameter x 3 ¼” high x 7/16” thick, sanded to 400 grit and has multiple coats of Minwax Wipe-On Gloss poly. Let it dry for 4 days and then buffed.

Lots of light in this bowl! Plan on wrapping it and taking over to my neighbor Pete in appreciation of all the wood he has given me this past year.

As always, your comments, opinions and critiques are welcome!

Thanks for looking!

That sure turned out nice. The yellow birch is something I haven't seen much of. You sure get a beautiful finish on your turnings. You must have a lot of patience.

Very attractive piece, Steve. I especially like the mass and the broader format. Do you find that it generally takes that long with the wipe on poly to cure before buffing?

Steve, I have some yellow birch that are drying and doing the same thing! Yellow birch has a lot of light rays (I like the term) in it and has the many beautiful color variations! It is a very nice bowl! Your neighbor should be very proud to own it!

Very nice Steve! It makes me want to send you a lot of wood for a year like your neighbor:).

Thanks for the kind comments everyone! I do appreciate it!

Steve, slight correction - it wasn't that Pete gave me wood for a year, the bowl is in appreciation of the pieces of wood that he gave me over the course of a year.
