This Tool Preview (http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/wwj/index.cfm/free.toolpreview) was just emailed to me by Woodworker's Journal. I have a hard time believing that this adjustable height design could be as rigid as the standard bandsaw with riser kit. If you were going to buy a new bandsaw, why wouldn't you just buy it with a riser kit and be done with it?

This sounds like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I'm sure smarter people than me will be able to provide a list of reasons why this is better than the current design, but for right now, I just don't get it.

Hmmm....veddy interestink! Not sure I'd bite either. For me the only reason to have a bandsaw is resawing or very thick stock ripping. Netiher of those would require an adjustable head. You'd also have to invest in several different lengths of blades....I guess someone would want it, but not me. Over time I wonder how accurate that saw would be?

There was a therad on this not long ago. Most felt it was a bit of a gimmick.
