Well folks, I finally found some cedar that I could afford. Found a guy who works for a local REA and as a sideline he mills old power cedar power poles into lumber. Needed 75bf to do a water wheel project and got it for $1.00/ bf.
All rough sawn. measures 5/4 X 6". Hopefully he will have more available later this summer.http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=7887&stc=1

Whoah! That IS a score! :) 'Round here, I usually can't find 5/4 Cedar and even the 4/4 is about double what you paid. Nice find!

Killer score! That's about half of what I can get it for locally...I haven't tried driving down into the Hill Country yet, I'm told I can get great deals down there close to what you paid.

When we pull old cedar poles we just use 'em for kindling.

You have some nice stuff, Bob! Looks to be 8-10 ring/inch near the center but the outer looks to be...ouch!, my eyes hurt! 20 ring/inch?
