Nice deal. For folks wanting to support SMC, however, use the SMC Amazon link to "get there" before using the promo code for the sale. ;)

I bought the DMP-35 last week and I am very satisfied. I think it was $235 with free shipping. Clifford

I just paid $226 for the DMP-BD35K plus 4 movies and supposedly once I get the player, I can get two more Disney movies for free.

AND, I went through the Creek!!

Awesome stuff...thanks so much for the link.

Jim:

I never thought to use that...i thought the creek link was for tools...."slaps my own hand":(...and i just noticed my own contribution has expired....what a lousy creeker i am...i was wondering what these ads were....just too busy to pay attention.:confused:

Chris:

.i was having trouble using the link and i contacted them and they said to place 2 orders, one for the player and one for the disks and then email them the 2 order numbers...and i got the $100 refunded instantly.

Disks are only good if you are going to watch them. I'm assuming you don't have a choice of movies? Though I bought mine at Amazon, if I have a choice, I would always go with Costco's. Clifford

How did you get it for just $200? By the time you buy the player for $280 and 4 Blue-Ray disk from the short list to select from it's got to be at least $340. Then you only get $100 off. Am I missing something?

The player is not $280...its been as low as $229 to start....so $75 for the disks and the remainder doe the player to make $100.

I didn't buy the 35bk though, i bought the 55bk...

Tim,

What did you pay for the 55bk? It's $359 at Amazon right now. The way I read it you had to sellect Amazon as the seller.

when i first came across it it the 55 was selling for $332 and the 35 was seling doe $239 and available for amazon prime free shipping. Si bought the 55 and THEN after ordering i found the deal for 6 movies free and treied to cancel and reorder....that got all tangled up so i emaikled amazon and they told me to just order the movies seperate and they would credit my account for $100 whihc they did.

So, $332 for the player and then the 4 movies which was a second order of $81 I then got a refund of $81 for the movies and $19 on the player making my total out of pocket $313.

I just checked and saw that you are right...both players went up in price yesterday to $279 and $359 receptively...

BTW it looks like neither of us slept well last night :-(

At Costco's the price is $280 for the Panasonic with an automatic $80 manufacturer's rebate at the cashier. What I like about it is a port in the front to take my camera's SD memory card. Pictures look great on wide screen TV.Clifford

I surrendered and got a PS3 for the kids. Blu-ray player plus the video game system. The 80G version has seen some deals since the 160G has launched. Still probably over $300 though.

Tim,

I tried to place two separate orders for the deal (player + 4 movies). My first order went through fine but it wouldn't allow me to place a second order of another player and 4 movies.

In other words, it appears that "one promo code per address or something" was in effect. Now it is "too late" and the cost is up $50 so I guess I'll skip getting a second player for now....

Mine just arrived today:)

I would guess that this deal will be an ongoing thing in one form or another. Panasonic seems pretty committed to selling alot of units before christmas.

I think the coupon would be 1 coupon per customer...got a work email address?

Bill, I have the 35. It works fine. I like the port for the SD card and it plays regular DVD's very well. I just played Gladiator for a test and was pleasantly surprised.Clifford

Nice! I got an email this morning saying both the movies and player have shipped so I may get them end of the week or early next week. Either way, I'll wrap 'em up and stick 'em under the tree.

I tried making another account but things got all weird as I tried to put the order through so I ended up not doing it. Oh well...1 player for now will suffice. :D

opening the box was a bit underwhelming...i remember my first HD-a1 and subsequent HD-xa2..those babies were so sweet...the bd55 is "ok", and it looks nice, but it is small and light. I am a believer that if i designed a/v equipment i would ad tons of that heavy vibration dampener stuff just to make things HEAVY:)

Off to watch the Dark Knight...since it is the only BD i own...

Okay, Blu Ray is cool! Did anyone find any information regarding the two free Disney movies supposedly available with the BD35 deal? I did not but will research further.

Well, that didn't take long! ;)

Blu Ray is awesome, my only complaint is the expense of the movies themselves, but places like Half Priced Books and other like stores are starting to get more used stuff in, making it a bit easier to swallow.

Our LG BD300 is hooked up to our home wireless...which allows us to stream Netflix. Just too cool! I was a little reluctant because it doesn't allow for HD streaming right now. However...LG has set it up to directly download the required software when it's ready. It's just amazing how slick it all works. My guess is Netflix is correct when they say DVD shipping is going to go the way of video stores.
