6 d is about 13 AWG which is about 0.0915" which is about 3/32". Anyone can confirm? You may wish to use a 1/16" drill bit, that is 0.0625".

See here, too: http://www.inthewoodshop.org/general/wwa20.shtml

Cut off the head off and chuck the 6d in your drill. Perfect hole size every time. Depending on the job I usually cut a few in advance so I have them ready.;)

OK, guess I'm a geek, too. A 3/32" is .09375". A #42 drill is .0935 and a #47 drill is .0785". If you don't have numbered drills, a 5/64" is .0781". Can't tell you about the size of the nail.

I suspect several of us resemble that remark. :D I do like the one about the glass of water. The pessimist says the glass if half empty, the optimist says the glass is half full. The engineer says the glass is twice as big as it should be. I'm no engineer, but he is surely right about that one!

Drink often from the glass and you have less of a chance of getting kidney stones...(Urologist)

Let the nail sit in the glass of water and you'll eventually reach your minimum daily allowance of zinc and iron.

Oh! Oh! back to the question - WHAT TYLER SAID.

But... drink from the perfect glass and it is too big again!
