Anybody seen any dust hoods shaped like this Penn State type with the port offset to one side but a bit smaller? I haven't had any luck yet with the WW sites I've checked so far or Googling and thought somebody might know.

I'm thinking of putting one at the bottom of a dust cabinet surrounding a router lift but would like to keep the cabinet size down to just a bit over the router plate size - maybe 10" x 12" or as close as I can find to it. The Penn one is 13"x16" so a bit bigger than I'd like.

The only smaller I find was Jointer hood it's offset and 7"x 8.5". here http://www.nosawdust.com/dust_hoods.htm

Hi Doug,
When installing my DC ducting I used a variety of HVAC fittings and IIRC there were several types that would work for you. Look up Gensco and check their catalogue. Youmay even find one at the borg.

Doug,

If you can draw, or even describe, exactly what you want (outside dimensions, port diameter, etc.) and take that and the picture of the commercial plastic version to a sheet metal shop, the tin knockers could whip one up in minutes out of heavy gauge (20 or even 18) galvanized steel.

Thanks guys. I got diverted from seaching further on this yesterday by a search for a particular mobile base model but need to get back to this. I liked the funnel shape on that Penn hood and figured if I couldn't find one just a little bit smaller, then I'd have to try the sheet metal option or maybe even trying to make one myself out of plexiglass. I'm going to keep trying for a little while searching out the plastic hoods to see if I get lucky.

Updatting my old own thread here, but I just noticed this today
http://www.pennstateind.com/store/R-TDHOOD.html?mybuyscid=4162567937 and ordered one. The size is prety close to what I was shooting for. I actually bought a couple fittings from the Borg that I could have made work but fortunately hadn't done anything to them yet so back they go. I think the funnel shaped bottom on this will work out nice.

A little off topic but I purchased one of those for my TS and converted it easily to a 6" port with a HVAC starter collar from HD. Works great when you close in teh back of the saw. Now just need something at the top of the table.
