Here are some pics. Just to recap, this is a MAX oscillating spindle sander. It included all 10 original spindles, the 3 table inserts, the owners manual, and wrenches. The delivery guy said it came out of a school. The paint is original, and in really good shape. No rust, but someone did do the top with a ROS and not very well. It's very heavy duty. Notice the pic with my thumb next to one trunion. The trunion is 1" thick cast iron. Also, much of the main body is cast aluminum. The very base and top are cast iron. It's a 1HP, 1PH machine, and it runs incredibly smooth. The dust port is there too. The only issue, it smells like gear oil. I washed the outside down with soapy water, but there was barely any oil there. I did see a few drops from under the machine after only 4 hours, so it looks like I need to replace the seal. Since I'll be going to all that trouble, is there a synthetic oil that won't smell as bad as the 90 weight gear oil?

Sweet machine! There is synthetic gear lube, it is quite expensive, but it does smell WAY better. NAPA or equal may have it now. Last time I found some, it was a little hard to come by.

Wow. What a machine! You have to love a tool made that well. Contrats and enjoy that sander.

Major score, congrats on the sander. My bother-in law has a pattern shop and has a old State brand OSS. Which I'm trying to talk him out of. I have to say I like the tilt on yours a lot better. Ditto on the syn gear lube I use Mobil 1.

Other than the hideous orange on the logo it's in nice shape. Since I want to replace the oil with synthetic I will dissamble it and put in a new seal. Who knows, maybe I will paint it
