I have a dozen hammers come in, and the customer just wants a name on each.. Nothing fancy.. Does titanium Cermark with about the same settings as Stainless? I told the customer I would mark 'one' first and see how it turns out, but with the cost of these hammers (they ain't cheap!!) I don't want to screw that first one up.. I've done lost of stainless, but this is the first titanium

We laser titanium dogtags with no problem using thermark LMM14. I think it looks better than stainless. I use the same settings as stainless also.

I too do a lot of titanimum. It marks just like stainless. I use the lmm 2000 for it.

I don't know about the LMM6000 but I do know that the LMM14 works good. Titanium moves heat very slowly so you can laser faster than SST if you want to.
304 SS moves heat at 8.6 BTU/ Ft*Hour*Fahrenheit
Titanium is 3.8.

At the bottom of the page (see link below) there is some discussion of marking Titanium, with and without using marking materials, and various settings.

Brian - Where did you get the numbers on heat travel?

What is it for Copper and Aluminum?

The LMM 6000 works great. That is what I use most of the time.

Ok Great.. Thanks for the info guys.. I will be doing these next week, the customer needs them before Thursday.. And James thanks for the feedback on the LMM6000.. I had a feeling it would be OK, I've used it for stainless, zinc, and H.Carbon steel with good results, but with the cost of one of these hammers, I just needed a bit of reassurance  Damn their light, it's hard to believe they move heat so slowly.. If I was swinging a hammer all day, I would certainly want one of these...

Did the hammers, they came out great, and the customer was satisfied (thats the important part).. Thanks for the feed back, it was appreciated...
