Well, my new J/P combo arrived with in 1 week of ordering it.
Thought I'd give you guys & gals a review of it. When I was considering
purchasing a J/P combo I went right to the Creek and searched
for info. There was very little info on this unit, but there seemed to be
alot of intrest from different people. I really wanted a spiral cutter
head as I mainly used figured woods, so the Grizz was on the top
of my list.
It arrived in perfect condition. I had it delivered to my shop (Auto Repair),
rolled it right off the truck & onto my flatbed and took it home that
night. I took it off the crate & pallet with my engine hoist and proceded
to set it up. The only adjustment I had to make, was to raise the outfeed
table slightly. Everything else was dead on.The tables are perfectly flat
and have a mirror finish. The fit & finish is excellent.
Now for the real world test. I had a peice of figured hard maple that
was twisted & cupped. Well I have to tell you. This machine is a BEAST.
No bog, just run it down that bed & it cut like a dream. What a pleasure
to have a full 12 inches to work on. Next onto the planer. First I have
to say, the changover is nothing,it takes about 30 seconds. Much less
time than it used to take to drag my lunchbox planer out of the corner,
hook it to the dust collector on plug it in.
Well it cut like a dream,no snipe and most important,no tearout. A
beautiful finish & perfectly straight.
This machine so far has performed way above my expectations.
Hats off to Grizzly.

Rick, thanks for the post. While one of these is not in my immediate purchase plans, it's nice to know that it is an option for the future.

Rick, how high off the floor is the planer bed?
When swapping back to jointer from planer were there any issues with the squarenss of the fence?

I would say aprox 3 ft. No issues with the fence. It slides on a dovetail. I haven't used it much & will report if the fence need to be adjusted often.
So far its good.
