This is curly maple with a walnut finial, 4" x 5" high. The finial is ebonized with India ink. After watching Cindy Drozda's DVD I am trying to make my finials smaller and more elegant. Finish - antique oil and buffed. All comments and critiques welcome.

Well I really like it Ron, I think the finial is a great fit and has nice lines too. How did you go about hollowing this one? Tools, techniques?

Jim this was dry wood so I glued a waste block on and turned a tenon. Then shaped the outside, drilled a hole to the depth I wanted to hollow. Then using a Sorby Midi Hollowmaster Tool, hollowed the inside. Then made a jam chuck and using the tail stock turned the bottom off leaving a small nub until the very end. Hope this helps. Ron
