After many months of treading water, comparing several brands and basically sitting on the fence about a new compressor, I decided to bite the bullet and order a 3HP 3cyl 60 gal 14CFM single phase unit from Eaton. The build time was about 2 weeks, but I got to pick the color I wanted. I chose white for a unique look.

When it all came down I chose Eaton because of their 5 year "bumper to bumper" warranty. They're only a phone call away and always ready to help, two more pluses in my book.

There are no less than 4 ball valves on this thing! One for the tank outlet; one for the pump crankcase oil drain; one for the tank drain; one for continuous run feature. This last one might not see much use with me, unless I'm doing heavy Dynabrade sanding. Basically it keeps the pump running, instead of switching on and off. Saves wear and tear on the motor and electrical contacts. A safety prevents overpressuring the tank. The continuous run feature must be a new offering on this model as it's not shown on their website. Also, the control is a magnetic overload starter. Did I mention the price? This unit is on sale for $950!. Compare to CH or IR and I think most will agree that this is a superb piece of American built equipment.

I have yet to plumb the new copper air lines in my shop, but when I do I'll have a more in-depth report. For now, here are a few pics:

Way to go on the new compressor. I got my Eaton about 1 1/2 years ago. It has been great so far. The continuous run feature also works great. When I use my sandblast cabinet the compressor will pump up and shut off so having that feature keeps it from cycling a bunch.

I have an Eaton rotary screw setup that has been very reliable and simple to operate and maintain. They seem to be a good hybrid company - a lot of mine was obviously sourced and fabricated in China, and the precision parts are German, but they do have some American added value.

Congrats, you will not regret getting an Eaton. I have had the big brother (80 gal 7.5hp) of the one you have for about a year and it has been a real work horse. The continuous run feature is what put the Eaton over the competition for me.
