I'm trying to get the wheels on my small benchtop bandsaw (Delta 28-180) co-planar. Problem is, I can't loosen the screw in the lower wheel so I can see about shimming it out (it's about 3/16" behind the top wheel). I've tried turning the screw in both directions, but I'm about to tear up the slot and the screw hasn't budged.

Would a little heat to the screw be ill advised? I'm not sure what kind of metal the wheel is.

Any other ideas? I know the best idea is to replace it, but that's not an option at the moment.

It's a direct drive motor, so I may not be able to shim it anyway, but I thought I'd give it a try since it's probably going to be with me for a while longer.

Thanks. DB

Go to the local auto parts store and by a spray can of "Blaster"
Read all the stuff on the label and say I don't believe this.
BUT - believe - sray the nut and wait one day for the stuff to get into the threads. Then wind the nut off.
Now which way to wind the nut off, I don't know because I'm not familiar with your machine. But have really good experiences with Blaster and frozen threaded stuff.
